  • Pizza class prize (ASB Paid, CAP coordinate) ASB would like pizza for a prize for a class. ASB will pay for the pizza, but CAP will facilitate ordering for them.
  • Middle School Otter Pops – would like otter pops for their field day, agreed to provide these

  • BBQ & Field Day – PBIS planning field day on 6/02 which will be the parent invited BBQ as well. Signup Genius links have been emailed. Still need some volunteers.
  • Grad night- Candace Allen Everything going well for Grad Night.  One more fundraiser left, Burgerville. Meeting for parents of Juniors will be 6/1 at 6pm
  • 8th Grade Grad – coordinator Crystal Katzer (Date change 6/15) 
  • Library – will continue packing on 6/9 at 1pm.  Need cart to help transport boxes to gym

  • Library- Decided to start packing up on 5/24 at noon before the open house.  Will put packed boxes in the back of the gym.
  • Pizza Tuesday  – 06/06 will be scaled back since 3 grades will be on field trips.

  • Agreed to buy pizzas for Mr. Gray’s class as the ASB winner.  8 pizzas, approx. $75
  • HS awards ceremony will be at Lewisville. Agreed to provid them with $350 towards that event

  • Surprise treat Day- will be on 5/12 – Otter pops, dye free
  • Teacher Appreciation Coord – Katie Cowl has organized it.

  • Grad night- Candace Allen – Finalizing Bullwinkles and plant sale. Candace is also putting together all the information for future senior parents on fundraising. Will hold a meeting for them.
  • 8th Grade Grad – coordinator Crystal Katzer – moved to 6/20. Will have 3 student speakers, baby pictures, character awards for each student

UPDATES

  • Chipotle Fundraiser – earned over $400.
  • Family Fun Day – At Crosley lanes.  Had a good turn out.  Venue does a great job accommodating and hoping we can continue it there next year.
  • PBIS Store – Went smoothly, Katie Plummer had assembled “kits” for kids to choose from. Amazon wish list link worked perfectly.  Parents were able to choose items from the list and then they were delivered directly to the school.
  • Pizza Tuesday (punch cards) – No longer selling for the rest of the year – Want kids to use up because we don’t know the pizza situation for next year yet.

UPDATES

 

  • Scholastic Book Fair – Went well, just met the minimum sales needed. Received $940 in scholastic credit and $875 in cash.  Trying to book for Nov/Dec next year. Suggestion made to maybe have a family movie night during sale to boost sales
  • Game Night – was a success! 75-100 people attended.  Bingo, ping pong, board games a hit. Provided snacks (chips, water, fruit leather) for free
  • Nacho Bar – went well.  Kids enjoyed having something different. Plenty of volunteers.
  • Jot Form – issue resolved.  The data storage had met capacity, had to delete in order to continue to use Jot Form. Need to remember to do this yearly.
  • Snow days – as of now, last day of school will be June 20th.  School is in session on March 17th which was a planned snow day makeup.

UPDATES

 

  • Mod Pizza Fundraiser – raised 537.31.  May take the check a few weeks to arrive
  • Grad night- Sees fundraiser 269.30.  Goal is to raise $6000 and avoid having to ask students to contribute.  Krispy cream fundraiser, plant sale, Chipotle fundraisers coming up.  Thank you to CAP for offering to double the budget to $1500 as all the fundraisers get re-established.  Grad night will be at Bullwinkle’s.  If another school joins the same night, the cost will be reduced to around $4000.  Also received $455 in donations. 
  • Library – new  procedure- this is working well

  • Surprise treat & PBIS treat – Hot cocoa served at lunch with cookies. Went well, gave the last group cups with lids so they could take to the assembly

UPDATES

  • Pizza Tuesday – been going very well, will add more dates to sign-up genius for volunteers
  • Payback books – 20 books still out. 240 sold for the year, still under goal but better than thought it would be
  • Library – No one showing up.  Need ideas to get kids to stay after.  May switch to Thursdays and use sign-up genius for teachers so Melissa knows when to open the Library
  • Mod Pizza – Went well.  Earned $437, do not know how we did against competing school (think it is Hockinson)

  • Spirit Wear sale and new design – Ana sold clearance items at last pizza Tuesday.  Had students vote on which new design they liked best.  Will have all new spirit wear to sell at the Thanksgiving Pie feast.  Paypal has been set up so credit cards can be used for payment
  • Thanksgiving lunch and family Pie party – Nov. 22nd.  Sodexho providing food and will be serving and handling the payments.  Sign-up genius will be set up for volunteers to help with cutting and serving pie as well as donating pies.  Allergy friendly pies need to be store bought.

Principal’s Report

  • CAM Building Update – First building will be set 12/19 and then it takes 6 to 8 weeks to finish out. Second building scheduled for March.  Discussed possibility of waiting until next year to move all students to new buildings instead of partially moving when each building is ready.  Easier logistically and safer while construction is still under way.

 

CAP General Meeting Minutes –  September 6, 2022

Introductions: Each attendee introduced themselves

Purpose of CAM Academy Parents (CAP): To support CAM Students and staff, fundraise to allow purchase and financial support of teacher requests and student activities that help build community at CAM Academy.

UPDATES

  • Introduced CAP Board for 22/23 school year. President Hollie Amundson, Shared VP/Secretary roles by Kristina Tavares and Tori Denfeld, Secretary Sarah Locatis
  • Explain we are no longer conducting CAP meetings via Zoom as an option for attendance
  • CAP provided the annual Teacher’s Breakfast on August 23rd.  Last year it was catered but chose to do homemade options with yogurt parfait bar and bagels
  • Ice Cream Social provided on August 31st.  Offered Orange creamsicle bars, fudge bars, vanilla/chocolate bars and frozen ICEE treats.  Went very well!  Lots of attendees came to see new campus.

TEACHER REQUESTS

  • Mr. Caughie asked for a vacuum for his classroom.  Was advised by a custodian that if he started vacuuming his classroom himself, he would then be responsible and it would not be done with the professional vacuum cleaner by the custodians.  Decided to postpone that request until we discuss with Mr. Caughie further.
  • 6th Grade ELA would like to CAP to purchase copies of the book, “A Wrinkle in Time” for class use.  Looking into using credit with Scholastic, which they do not currently stock. Other option is used found online for $239 for the set.  CAP attendees approved this purchase

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

  • Pizza Tuesday is set to begin September 27th if enough volunteers are available.  Sign-up Genius has been made and currently looks to be well covered for first few dates
  • Spirit Wear Coordinator – Kristina has stepped down as coordinator.  Design from last year is on a website that can be ordered by individuals to be shipped directly to their home.  If we get a new coordinator, they can develop a new design and find a producer
  • 8th Grade Recognition Committee Leader 
  • Teacher Appreciation Coordinator
  • Watch Dog Coordinator
  • All volunteers need to be cleared through the school district on the BGPS site and show proof of vaccinations or have a waiver form filled out.  

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

  • Payback Book Fundraiser – coming soon, this week or next.  Usual format.$20 per book, $10 goes back to the school. Please help us make it a success by sharing/purchasing
  • MOD Pizza Fundraiser moved to Wednesday, October 5th.

TREASURER’S REPORT

  • Spent less than half of what was budgeted for the Teacher’s Breakfast. Budget was $300. Not all receipts turned in yet, but around $115 was spent.

 

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

  • Drop off and pick up are going better.  First day of school was a little rough. Advising to drop kids off at Captain Strong parking lot in A.M. and pick up in the Chief Umtuch parking lot in the P.M. to help with the flow of cars coming into the CAM parking lot.  
  • Mr. Cowl sent out an email asking for a large rock to be donated that the seniors each year can paint.  It will sit in the courtyard until moved to the new campus next year. Seniors will also get a large mural they can paint.
  • Currently the gym is ready for lunches, but it is still very warm in there.  Students will be having lunch outside as long as the weather permits and the temperatures cool a bit.
